Sandra's career started as a hairdresser in London. In the early 1970's Sandra moved to Yorkshire, losing her southern accent in the process! She has taken on a variety of roles in her life but found her calling when working as a seamstress at Crowson Fabrics. Sandra spent 5 years at Crowson's learning the soft furnishing trade from the bottom up to becoming one of their top seamstresses.

In 2001, Sandra went freelance making roman blinds from her attic and working with a local pelmet manufacturer. However, her roman blinds and subsequent handmade curtains became so popular, she and her son, Gary, decided to set up Laithes as a bespoke tailoring service to local interior designers.

In 2004 they set up workrooms in Summerbridge and since then the business has flourished.

Nicky joined Laithes in 2008 after spending 13 years in the telecommunications sector. At Kingston Communications, her primary role was in sales acting as an account manager for several leading UK corporates.

After starting a family Nicky decided to leave the corporate sales environment and join the family business with a goal to lead the Laithes sales and marketing activity.  Since joining, Nicky has taken on responsibility of overseeing day to day workload management and is also responsible for staff deployment and quality control.

With her experience gained in account management Nicky has enhanced the team, in particular, her passion for excellent customer care.
